Client
European Boutique Lighting Brand
Project Brief
A growing European lighting brand approached us with a vision for a contemporary floor lamp collection. While the desired visual language and characteristic arc geometry had already been defined, the client required support in transforming the concept into a product that could be engineered, manufactured, and function reliably in real-world applications.
Unlike larger manufacturers with extensive in-house development resources, the client relied on our R&D team to provide industrial design refinement, engineering expertise, material selection, manufacturing guidance, and technical integration throughout the project.
The Challenge
The objective extended far beyond developing a single floor lamp. The client intended to launch a collection consisting of three floor lamp variations featuring different proportions and lighting configurations while maintaining a consistent design language across the range.
One of the key challenges was achieving the desired visual lightness and elegant arc geometry without compromising stability, balance, and structural performance. As development progressed, the client also explored integrating smart lighting functionality and extending the collection with a matching table lamp.
Our Approach
Working from the original design brief, our team developed multiple proposals before refining the final product architecture. The project involved industrial design development, mechanical engineering, structural balancing analysis, material evaluation, component design, production planning, and smart lighting integration.
Particular attention was given to the lamp base and support structure, where multiple design iterations were evaluated to achieve the desired visual appearance while maintaining stability and functionality. Throughout the development process, we worked closely with the client to ensure every engineering decision supported both the aesthetic vision and the practical requirements of production.
The Outcome
The final collection evolved into three distinct floor lamp models sharing a unified design language. The series was later expanded to include a matching smart-enabled table lamp, also developed and engineered by our team.
This project demonstrates how we can act as an extension of a client's product development department, providing the design, engineering, and manufacturing expertise needed to transform ambitious ideas into commercially viable lighting collections.
